To the man in black: Happy birthday, Johnny Cash.

John R. Cash
Born on February 26, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas.

“I’d like to wear a rainbow every day, and tell the world that everything is o.k.
But I’ll try to carry off a little darkness on my back.
Until things are brighter, I'm the Man in Black.”

Counting the days to get a set of his stamps.
Date of release not yet known.
Hot. Damn.
The forever stamp, which will be square to resemble a 45 rpm record sleeve, is based off a photograph of the "Walk the Line" singer in 1963, as he recorded "Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash." The stamp will be released later this year and will cost the same as any other stamp -- a newly raised 46 cents. -Johnny Cash to grace new postage stamps via CNNMoney.

To the man in black
The best thing I found in Hollywood, asides a dark cool dive bar, with cold beer and a Keith Richards Shrine. It does exist, and we found it - not far from the main touristy Boulevard stretch.

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you

I've started to play a significant amount of Johnny Cash again in the last few weeks.
Comes and goes, but has mostly lingered for many years.

As a teenager I didn't know where Jackson was, but I knew I wanted to go to Jackson.
Which are your favorite singles? Or favorite memories while listening a song?
Knowing my audience quite good, I know that at least one of you got to see him in concert, perhaps before I was born..

El problema de contestar en el blog es que no todo el mundo tiene tiempo de volver al blog para ver la respuesta.

  2. Fantastic photos Meli! Too many favourites to mention now but my first was Folsom Prison Blues and I didn’t even know it was a Cash song at the time! I was a mixed-up kid, a young punk-rocker with a soft-spot for jazz cruising around Auckland on a Vespa (because I’d written-off my motorcycle) and once a week I’d meet-up with a photographer friend of mine at a country & western bar. They were a welcoming crowd: country music fans, big hairy truck drivers, tattooed gang members and a few skinny young white boys like myself - the music was a common bond. The singer was a Cash lover and although I’m no country music fan I got a taste for his style, love it to this day.

    1. oh great to hear that, it is so beautiful what a wide range of genres he reached and that continues to this day - is what great musicians are all about.
"The music was a common bond" that's beautiful Antoine, thanks for sharing!
