Such a snob. Ask away.
Thanks to Chronicle books for sending this piece of snobbery over my way.
After reading on and off the snob for awhile, I realized that many of his jokes I didn't quite get because I don't ride a fixie, and I have also never raced or have been into fast bikes.
However, I still enjoyed the dedication and his style of writing. I was never really into his anonymosity but perhaps he knew the whole time he would at the end wound up with a book offering. At anyrate, this book, has now arrived in the melilands and it is ready to be read by me. That said, here we go.
While looking at the book, I pulled the Kill Rock Stars album. They are graphically long lost cousins, that cover art resembles a tad to Olympia Brewing Company [link]. Thought I'd share.
Visually and physically, the book is quite pleasant. I have not finished it yet, but I was happy to find a great interview by Tom over at bikejuju with the artist behind the book, Chris Koelle. Read all about it and check out his work space here: Artist Profile: Chris Koelle -from bikejuju
It also came with a little 'deluxe' patching kit. That's kinda nice.
So, the bike snob, aka señor Weiss, will make his appearance in SF:
TH June 17th from 630PM- 8PM at the Sports Basement, San Francisco.
FRI June 18 from 630PM - 730PM at Barnes & Nobles on Stevens Creek +San Tomas Expy, San José.

Get it off your chest.
Sometime around 1997, a girlfriend and I had ditched school and went to the record store. On one of days (ok, this happened often) I bought some music I don't recall now, local zines & 2 magazines starting with the letter B, I had never seen before. BUST and Bitch. I remember reading this article on PJ Harvey and 10,000 maniacs and of course some very cool stuff to read for when I got grounded. Both magazines have evolved and I am happy to see both of them around and not gone. Very cool
So, now I'm going to shamelessly let you know I'm in a magazine. It's BUST.
The beloved Frenchie – the motobecane astra that has become the vehicle and my shrink of confidence everyday– this steel beauty, gets some love. yay!
Many gracias to the fabulous lady behind bits and bobbins and creator of the wonderful Wardrobe Remix, Tricia Royal. I was pretty flattered when she contacted me about this and also I think is super rad that the beautiful America Ferrera is on the cover & those hearts!!!!
We had fun doing the shoot. The photo was taken in Alamo square (you know, those postcard houses) and it even though it looks quite dry when the sun even came out for a bit, then we got some freak flash rain, crazy. Thought I'd share
What makes me happy is the exposure of the bike, the cities we live in and that being dressed 'normal' and a woman is no longer that rare. We don't need crazy get-ups (cute shoes are not consider crazy! he hee), fancy gadgets or man-lead long distance groups, to be part of the bicycle culture. We are here, and we are ready to ride, with our normal clothes and our happy faces. We move forward, sometimes make friends along the way ‹I have met amazing women that are now best of friends›, discover new places in town, enjoy the great smells from the bike lane (ok in SF, often not-so-great at all), climb hills, fall, bleed, sweat, learn to dodge doors and learn everyday that really it is not hard, to move around with your bicycle.
And dress up? sure why not! give it a try :D

Gracias Lucy, Tricia y BUST – and all of you.
♥ much love / meligrosa ♥

Zooey Deschanel in Vanity Fair
I opened up my issue of this month's Vanity Fair and came across this cotton ad. She is adorable and knowing that she is not only posing with a bicycle to be cool (because riding a bicycle makes us super cool!!) but she does ride a bike and has been spotted around before (RidingPretty:ZD &her bike). Very lovely!!

Things and Thoughts: bike brite loves colors.
Okay. Here are the tights I won over a few days ago from le lovely the-coveted giveaway: we love colors!
They seemed pretty blue tie-dye from their online choices, but I don't mind they psychedelic rainbowness to it. I love tights. and skirts. Anyhow, here are some pictures from taking this crazy pair around the city. They are a 'one-size fits all' but I think that they might be too small for taller gals or/with longer limbs. They also carry S-M-L sets. They feel a tad thicker from all its crazy dye-processing, but feel pretty smooth overall. ♥Thanks The Coveted -&- We love colors!!!

Comictastic!!
I'd like to give a huge thanks to Patrick [see his picture here], from the hen power duo behind vélocouture. Knowing that I love wearing crazy fabrics or colors [we are tight] he sent me this shirt he thought I'd enjoy. From PDX with love.

Thursday Things and Thoughts: Taaaa!
Contagious. Being optimistic and getting flats. Herds of them lurking on the frenchie. Patching, yes. New tube & tire, yes. Glass, dime a dozen. Repeat & rinse.
Getting home from work wayyy after 9 ‹missed the vigil, :( booo!› Getting another flat and not getting coffee in the last few hours, there was nothing better to cheer me up than this adorable gesture below.
Checked the mail and I found this lovely thank you card. Just made my evening. So nice! - Thanks for such lovely written notes inside, you all know who you are. ♥!!!

Hump Day Inspiration: Tandemtastic!!
This little surprise package I received was the cause of a gigantic smile. I'll be wearing this sweet gift soon :) Oh I'm in love with this neckalce♥!!!
The details in this Aussie-designed piece are just beyond impeccable. You are able to see what's in the basket and the adorable designer's pet, whose name is Duffy. My cat Velcro won't get jealous at all, the dog is on a fabulous tandem afterall. So cute

Thursday Things and Thoughts
Last week, I received a lovely surprise of goodies from the fashionable hands of Mary Jo from Trust your Style. She has been a reader and follower of this little blog since the early days! This cute little bag holds a few of my everyday things that tend to hide at the bottom of my purse. This will be a nice option for going without one sometimes. The linen or cotton material feel very nice and I love the illustration. Pretty cool.
♥ ♥ Thanks Mary Jo!!
♥ ♥ Thanks Mary Jo!!
I was very happy to run into my homeboy Jose. (we are overdue for a bici coffee ride, eh!?) He handed me this at the end of the night. Maybe it's because I'm riding big hills with big heels? haa just kidding. Sweet. I like redish-pink and blue together. You can check out his thing over at Viva La Bici.
Viva!!
And this is from a sweet man in a shoe repair place in the Sunset. We started talking about bikes, cats and shoes. He had this super old school poster I fell in love with but would never dare to ask for it, but he handed me this as a souvenir. He said he always tosses them. What a gem. Looks like my ♥velcro.Wednesday, August 27, 2008
Bike the Journal

to see good work by unknown writers and new talent given some good exposure.
Operated locally, this literary magazine publishes 3x a year and it makes me happy when it
finally arrives in my mailbox. And, this issue (#83) included a bicycle drawing by Ethan Murrow. Nice!
From their zizipedia "Art: We take seriously our mandate to showcase the work of West Coast writers and artists,
reproducing 30 or so images in each issue, an on-going survey of recent drawing, printmaking, and photography."

A Beautiful View of the dust market as wealthy miner Thatcher Rohnald arrives with her train, 2007
by Ethan Murrow. Graphite. 74in x 74 in.
(Scanned image from my fall2008/issue#83, but visit ‹Ethan Murrow's› website for more of his work.)
Read a great article about ZYZZYVA in the LA Times

This week in the postal mailbox

I've posted some bike-related articles there. It's a 3-year old project ran by Mr. Al Gore. One of their offices is located here in SF, near the ballpark stadium, with many other web2.0 companies.
It is a cable channel, which airs very fast-paced info (comcast 107) & a website/directory in the similar lines of digg. An opportunity to post your own production/films in various topics is the Viewer Created Content and a good documentary section by their Vanguard team. My favorite is Laura Ling's Toxic Villages piece. And of course loads of highly opinionated users.
You can see some of the bicycle posts here or for other stuff just search.
(LEFT) Perfect-Fit women-sized shirt (meaning it won't be a PJ shirt), moleskin-ish notebook (I do carry a stickglue and scissors in my bag) and some stickers. Nice! - Inspired by Ines Brunn lady bike trikster superstar
